What a Weekend for Our Celebration Choir!
Our newly formed RSMF Celebration Choir had a busy and exciting weekend, taking part in two fantastic events filled with music and celebration!
On Saturday, we were delighted to join the Paulinus Singers as part of the Centenary Celebrations at St Chad’s Church. It was a fantastic occasion which brought together music and community.
Our choir was joined by the adult choir for performances of Let Us Light a Candle by Richard Shephard and The Heavens are Telling by Haydn, creating a powerful atmosphere and a fantastic sound throughout the church. The afternoon was made even more special with cake afterwards and the opportunity for some of our choir members to play the organ.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, over £630 was raised at this event for the Foundation.
On Sunday, the choir performed twice as part of York Mela 2026 bringing fantastic energy and enthusiasm to both performances.
The day began with us warming up while listening to Punjabi Roots before going on stage. We also enjoyed watching our student ambassador, Liv perform a wonderful solo. During lunchtime, we saw a Chinese dragon performance and spent time colouring and making musical decorations - we were really pleased that we managed to avoid the rain!
The afternoon performance had an even bigger crowd and the confidence and enthusiasm the choir brought to the stage was inspiring, it was wonderful to see everyone enjoy the performances so much!
We are incredibly grateful to have been part of both celebrations. A huge thank you to all choir members and everyone who invited and supported us!
