Our Ryedale Primary Choir’s Debut with The King’s Singers

On Friday 14th July our Ryedale Primary Choir had the opportunity to take part in a workshop with the prestigious King’s Singers and join them singing a special piece in the evening concert at St Peter’s Church, Norton as part of the Ryedale Festival.

The workshop included warm up games, Disney songs and advice on how to sing to an audience. They then practiced the piece ‘A gift to be simple’ with the King’s Singers ready to perform in the evening concert. Between singing, the choir took a well-deserved break doing craft activities such decorating drums and xylophones.

Cathy Grant from RSMF, said: “Huge thanks to The King’s Singers and Ryedale Festival for giving local schoolchildren this opportunity. Not only did they have a workshop with the singers, they also got to watch some of their concert and sing with them on stage. A fabulous and inspiring event!”

Our Ryedale Primary Choir aims to provide musical opportunities to children from across the local area.  The choir mainly runs during school holidays and allows children to meet and sing with profession musicians, and perform each year as part of the Ryedale Festival.  We are now expanding our choir to reach 7-13 year olds. Our first rehearsal for next term will be on Friday 2nd November 2023.
