Looking back on Make Music Day 2025
At the end of June we invited 14 of our partner schools to our annual Make Music Day celebration, with an amazing 450 children taking part in the day!
A great time was had by all - with feedback from children including:
"I felt delighted to be at Make Music Day... I loved the music and I'm glad that I got the opportunity to be able to go. Thank you!"
"[Today] I learnt that you can wear a certain type of tuba! I hope I get the chance to go again!"
"[Today was] the best time of my life."
A huge thank you to the talented and hard-working musicians who provided an incredible array of musical workshops for our children! From beatboxing, to brass, to chamber orchestra - there really was something for everyone, and the quality was unparalleled. The children told us:
"Back Chat Brass was my favourite... the activities and games were really fun"
"You guys are the best and very talented!"
"The LEAP orchestra was the best thing about the day"
Thank you to our supporters
We were so pleased to welcome our fantastic supporters and partner organisations to Make Music Day 2025. The work we do relies on their generous support and enthusiasm, and it is wonderful to be able to showcase the joyful energy that music brings to the children we work with!
We were moved by the beautiful words of our trustee Andrea: "Music speaks to something deep within us: it inspires, unites and empowers. The Richard Shephard Music Foundation was created to bring that power into the classroom - ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has access to high-quality music teaching."
Thanks to The David Brooke Charity, The Marchus Trust, York Music Hub, and our network of supporters, for funding this year's Make Music Day. Special thanks also to The Joseph Weingarten Memorial Trust for funding the visit from the 'LEAP Ensemble' - an orchestra from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
