We had a fantastic day at our very first Music Explorers Club in Crayke!
Children from schools across the area gathered at Crayke CofE Primary School for a free day of music.
The day began with a delicious breakfast, prepared by the school’s wonderful cook before an introduction to the day’s activities. Fun warm-up games and singing activities got everyone energised.
After a short break there was a ‘Movement and Music’ workshop with parachute games and pop music with the aim of keeping the parachute off the ground!
Lunchtime was another highlight – the children ate lunch and played outside, making lots of new friends from a range of local schools.
In the afternoon, there was a Samba workshop, where everyone learned the names of new instruments and created their own rhythms. The day finished with a performance for parents and carers.
The event was delivered by the Richard Shephard Music Foundation and kindly sponsored by the Easingwold District Community Care Association (EDCCA) and FEAST – North Yorkshire’s Government-backed Holiday Activities with Food (HAF) programme.
Feedback from participants included
“I learnt how to properly play a samba instrument”
“I enjoyed playing with new friends”
At RSMF, we believe every child should have access to the joy and benefits of music. That’s why we continue to offer inclusive, community-based music experiences across the region during the school holidays.
