2023 - What a year!

This year has been our busiest yet - with some great successes to celebrate, including:

  • Increasing the number of schools we work in - with a total of 24 schools now receiving weekly music sessions through the Foundation

  • Working with almost 5,500 children on a regular basis

  • Delivering a total of 40 extracurricular sessions, including our Ryedale Primary Choir and our Holiday Clubs across York and North Yorkshire

  • Expanding our staff team - with our new Head of Development and Engagement, Natalie, working with us since September

We are hugely grateful to all our supporters for helping us to bring the benefits of music to children across our region. Our new Impact Report is available to read now for the full story of our successes over the past year - with highlights including:

  • Following engagement with RSMF’s Schools Programme, the average amount of music education received by pupils had almost doubled – from 29 minutes to 56 minutes per week

  • Almost three-quarters (74%) of pupils surveyed felt that they were more confident after taking part in RSMF school sessions

  •  82% of teachers felt their pupils’ wellbeing was improved following RSMF music sessions

“The children were having the most fabulous time… The feeling was that of absolute joy. Every single child fully immersed in an activity they would never have accessed if it wasn't for the Richard Shephard Music Foundation – thank you.”
