A Special Visit from the High Sheriff of North Yorkshire
Music lessons taking place at Crayke CE Primary School
We were thrilled to welcome Sir Andrew Lawson-Tancred, High Sheriff of North Yorkshire, and his wife Julia to Crayke CE Primary School to see our music lessons in action!
They joined Year 5 and 6 pupils for a fantastic session full of singing, instrumental playing, and lots of learning about musical structures and notation. Everyone was so impressed by the children’s enthusiasm, teamwork, and impressive musical knowledge.
After the visit, Cathy Grant, CEO of RSMF, commented:
“The children had so much knowledge and were so engaged. I visit many schools and was really impressed by the culture, positivity, and independence of the Year 5s and 6s.”
Sir Andrew Lawson-Tancred also commented:
Very many thanks for organising for me and Julia to sit in on
the Year 5 & 6 music class at Crayke School. It was a wonderful session - a
testament to the value and impact of weekly classes over a period of years. It
was abundantly clear that the children have absorbed and understood a lot of
musical knowledge and skills and that music gives them joy and confidence. The
Sing teacher ran a well paced, content rich lesson which she executed with the
utmost professionalism. We commend you for what you have achieved and feel sure
that Richard Shephard would be nodding his head with approval at the work you
do.
